On 28 October 2024, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) tabled its Annual Report for 2023–24, showcasing its pivotal role in maintaining high-quality vocational education and training. This year, ASQA achieved all five strategic objectives aligned with its commitment to regulatory best practices, focusing on continuous improvement, risk-based approaches, and stakeholder collaboration.
Key initiatives included the establishment of the Integrity Unit and Tip-off line to enhance intelligence and investigative capabilities against VET integrity risks, particularly following COVID-19. ASQA also expanded its Fit and Proper Person Requirements to include all individuals with management influence over Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), reinforcing sector integrity.
As of 30 June 2024, over 50% of serious investigations were connected to multijurisdictional efforts, such as the Fraud Fusion Taskforce. The report further details ASQA's support for self-assurance in the sector, identification of regulatory risks, and the implementation of strategic reviews and educational programs to enhance training outcomes.
